Listen: Ezra Koenig Covers Paul Simon

Ezra Koenig - Vampire Weekend

It wasn’t until the final track on the number one clinching Contra in 2010 with “I Think Ur a Contra”, did the self-effacing acoustic guitar make an appearance on any Vampire Weekend record.

Now here we have another instance, where front-man Ezra Koenig covers Paul Simon’s track “Papa Hobo” taken from his 1972 self-titled début solo album.

It is indeed for the soon to be released Max Winkler film, Ceremony, appearing alongside other sixties types like Van Dyke Parks, Ringo Starr and The Who’s Pete Townshend on the soundtrack.

Listen below for Koenig’s cover.

And then just for comparison, you can hear the Paul Simon original. First song to ever use the word ‘Gatorade’?
