video/mp3: Wintercoats – ‘Working On A Dream’

Here’s another beautiful film directed and edited by Brendan Canty and Conal Thomson of Feel Good Lost.

I’m not sure what demands the greater focus here. The music, or the video? Each aspect relies on the other, the subtly swelling cinematic score is indeed imperative to the emotional delivery of the short film.

Although fundamentally a music video, the old MTV definition has become increasingly hazy as directors like Feel Good Lost become much less derivative and outlandishly inventive. It’s not even like this plot is anything to write home about, but the shots and editing are just sublime.

And what about the music? It’s not like it was even written for film! Wintercoats is multi-instrumentalist James Wallace, a native of Melbourne who specialises in ethereal orchestrated ambience and has a debut EP ready for a 27th of September release on Cascine Records.
