Coldplay (Feat. Rihanna) – ‘Princess Of China’
With the Wa-Wa-Wa-Waterfalls and the Para-Para-Paradises, it seems Coldplay really are clasping, cuddling and canoodling all those clinical hooks and connotations of the chart-topping pop band.
Like the hip-hop royalty of Jay-Z and Kanye West before her, here’s the tenth track from the upcoming fifth album Mylo Xyloto which features a cameo from Princess of Pop Rihanna, and an all encompassing Umbrella beat to match. As with Chris Martin’s previous effort for Jamelia, it’s a well written pop song benefiting from pristine production and serves its purpose equally well, since it seems to resonate like a Rihanna number should.
If Coldplay hadn’t been successful, it’s nice to know Chris Martin could have still made it as an in-house songwriter. Brian Eno’s washed out bit-crushing synths are in vast surplus and the now as-standard “whoas” are as anthemic as ever.
The track was premiered last night on Dutch radio and according to EMI Music Italy, iTunes are set to stream tracks from the album every day between now and October 23rd. Mylo Xyloto is released on October 24th via Capitol.
