Video: OK Go – ‘Needing/Getting’

OK Go maintain time-old tradition of releasing videos that are better than the music.

Last time we watched a right cute troop of talented canines, this time the band play more than 1000 instruments with…a car. It’s the kind of stuff dreams are made of.

They’ve taken a Chevy Sonic, and kitted it right up with retracting pneumatic arms, before driving the contraption round a desert near Los Angeles, whacking the instruments positioned on the side of the road.

Most bizarrely of all, is this actually works, and causes the instruments to produce sound. In the YouTube video description, the band write:

“each piano had the lowest octaves tuned to the same note so that they’d play the right note no matter where they were struck.”

The epic video took four months to prepare and four days to shoot and record. You may have noticed that parts of the video were indeed utilised in the premiere of  Chevrolet’s Chevy Sonic ad during that most wild of Super Bowls.
